What is a plate-and-frame heat exchanger?
A stack of thin, corrugated metal plates clamped together in a frame.
Your process or closed-loop fluid flows through every other channel between the plates, and cooling tower water flows through the channels in between. Heat moves across the plates, but the two fluids never mix.
That separation is what lets you use open, evaporative rental cooling towers on a loop that has to stay clean.
