What fill does
Fill is where the heat leaves your water.
Fill media spreads the water falling through the tower so more of it is in contact with the air moving through. That contact is what cools the water.
When fill is damaged, clogged or out of place, the tower can’t reject as much heat. Checking the fill is one of the four areas in every assessment we do, along with the structure, mechanical equipment and water distribution.
